Fudge

2 cups sugar
3 Tbsp white Karo syrup
0.5 cup milk
2 squares baking chocolate (or 1/4 cup baking cocoa)
1 Tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
chopped nuts

Cook sugar
, syrup, and milk slowly **without** stirring until the mixture forms a soft ball. Remove from heat and add baking chocolate, butter and **without** stirring, set pan in cold water until mixture cools. Beat well. Add vanilla and some chopped nuts, if desired. Put in a buttered pan or drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.
Note: 1/4 cup of baking cocoa can be used instead of chocolate squares, however, this should be put in first mixture.
