Tina's Bars

0.5 cup shortening
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
0.5 tsp baking soda
0.5 cup walnuts
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups oatmeal
0.5 tsp salt
0.75 cup flour
1 12-oz package chocolate chips
1 can condensed milk
0.25 tsp salt

Combine shortening, egg, vanilla, baking soda, walnuts, brown sugar, oatmeal, 1/2 tsp salt, and flour. Press 2/3 of mixture into 9x13 pan. Combine and melt (very low heat) 12-oz package of chocolate chips. Add 1 can condensed milk and 1/4 tsp salt. Spread on first mixture. Add remaining dough (just drop on in splotches). Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cut into squares.
